The SSC Ultimate Aero was made by Shelby SuperCars now known as SSC North America. In 2007 the Ultimate Aero was clocked at 412.29 km/h (256.19 mph) and entered the Guinness Book of World Records for being the fastest production car on the planet. The Aero held this record till 2010 when it was usurped by the Bugatti Veyron.

The awesome power of the Ultimate Aero can propel it from naught to 60 mph in merely 2.7 seconds. However, the Aero is not all about speed and power. With some of the cleanest burning supercar engines on earth, for several years a limited production model, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT, also boasted the highest power for an emissions-legal production automobile.

The car’s V8 engine has twin turbochargers and is built to be run close to its redline, 7,200 rpm, for extended periods. Moreover the car’s futuristic aerodynamic design has a very low drag coefficient, merely .357. Wind tunnel tests indicated that the car could go up to 273 mph and maintain stability.

The Aero also comes with all the creature comforts of a luxury supercar. These include plush suede interiors, custom Recaro seats and a powerful audio system with 10 speakers. Notably the designers opted to do away with electronic aids such as traction control and ABS, making the Aero truly a driver’s car.
