The car’s name literally translates to “The Ferrari”.  Ferrari chose this name to signify that this particular car embodies Ferrari’s spirit and ideology better than any other car they’ve made. Priced upwards of a million US dollars, LaFerrari is a limited edition hybrid supercar, with exactly 499 units built.

The car’s hybrid power plant features a 6.3 litre V12, which produces 789 hp. This is supplemented by a 120 KW electric motor that provides bursts of power when needed, while saving fuel most of the time. The hybrid engine boasts more horses than any previous Ferrari, while burning almost 40% less fuel.

The car has a highly rigid carbon fibre monocoque shell which is reminiscent of Ferrari’s racing legacy. Another racecar feature is LaFerrari’s 7 speed dual-clutch transmission which works in fully automatic mode while allowing the driver to shift manually in semi-automatic mode.

Using its full power at 950 bhp, the gas-electric hybrid engine can take LaFerrari and its two occupants from 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds. The car’s top speed exceeds 217 mph and Ferrari claims that the car goes faster around laps than any other road legal car ever produced by Ferrari.
