2) Chevrolet SS
The SS has been one of Chevy’s most prominent muscle cars since 2013. It replaced the Pontiac, which was discontinued in 2009. The SS improved upon the Pontiac in several ways. These included styling, a stiffer chassis with the use of better materials and reduced weight.
The use of superior strength steel in the car’s skeleton made the car handle road imperfections better. In addition to better ride quality, it also made the car a full 30 pounds lighter. The other prominent design improvement was on the inside. A better dash and improved human interface were important enhancements.
The SS happened to be Chevy’s only rear wheel driven V8 sedan after a long gap. Its 6.2 litre LS3 V8 engine came directly from the Chevrolet Corvette (C6). It produced 415 hp and 415 lb·ft of torque. 2017 promises to be the final model year for the SS, as Chevrolet announced that it would be discontinued this year.
