6) Lotus Evora 400
The Evora 400 was first unveiled in 2008. The name is in keeping with a Lotus tradition of picking words starting with the letter ‘e’. The number comes from the car’s max power output, which is 400 hp at 7000 rpm.
The Evora 400 can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 186 mph with manual transmission. These stats make it the fastest production Lotus built for the road. A 3.5 litre supercharged V6 engine couples with the optional automatic six-speed gearbox which can be set to ‘race’ mode with the Dynamic Performance Management system.
The car has been built upon one of the lightest and strongest Lotus chassis, evolved from racecar technology. The mid-engine design gives the Evora excellent handling properties. In terms of optional extras Lotus offers a titanium sports exhaust and electric adjustable seats. Buyers can also opt to have the car’s air conditioning removed at no cost, to reduce weight.
