8) Subaru Outback
The 2017 Outback comes with a 175 hp 4-cylinder engine as standard, and a 256 hp 6-cylinder engine as optional. Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive system is designed to perfectly balance and evenly distribute power for maximum traction, better stability, efficiency, and faster response to road conditions.
The Outback’s standard feature roof rails with integrated crossbars add to the roomy vehicle’s cargo carrying capacity. In-built vehicle dynamics control (VDC) with active torque vectoring is standard on all models of the car, and improves handling.
Subaru also equipped the Outback with their EyeSight driver assist technology, which monitors traffic movement on the road to optimize cruise control functionality. It also warns the driver when swaying outside the lane. The pre-collision braking feature can autonomously use the car’s full braking power in emergency situations. Subaru claims a city fuel economy of 25 mpg on the Outback. US retail prices start at $25,645.
