6) Porsche 911 Turbo / Turbo S
The 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo packs a 3.8 litre, twin turbo, six cylinder engine which puts out 540 hp. Porsche’s signature horizontally opposed engine arrangement balances weight, reduces vibration and gives the car a very low center of gravity. This rear mounted engine also has integrated dry sump lubrication. Two exhaust turbochargers with variable turbine geometry (VTG) add to the car’s formidable torque.
Employing some of their racing technology in road cars, Porsche equipped the 911 Turbo with their stability management system which is essentially ABS, traction control, automatic brake differential (ABD) and anti-slip regulation (ASR), all rolled into one. Stability management dramatically enhances road grip and handling. Thankfully Porsche were kind enough to provide an option to turn it off.
The 911 Turbo S model has a dash, console and door trims finished in carbon. Buyers also get several options for personalizing their Turbos with a choice of colors, interiors, upholstery and materials.
