The Challenger name spans multiple generations of Dodge cars since 1958. In 2015 Dodge made notable design variations to the Challenger’s engine, gearbox and exteriors. However, the car remained a true classic, and despite the changes it has retained several similarities to its 1960 predecessors.

Instead of a 5 speed auto, the power now goes to the rear wheels through an 8 speed automatic gearbox. The Dodge Challenger SRT 392 features an Apache V8 6.4 litre engine with an output of 485 hp; 15 more than the older version. It produces 475 lb-ft of torque. The Challenger SRT Hellcat sports an even more powerful 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI engine producing 707 hp and and 650 lb·ft of torque.

Built as a proper muscle car, the Challenger packs huge amounts of low-end torque, perfect for drag races but not the best for running laps. Further mods for 2017 will feature a new all-wheel drive (AWD) pack.
