The new 6-Series convertible comes with a fully automated drop top which folds down and tucks neatly in as little as 24 seconds. Other user-centric innovations include a wireless charging pocket for smartphones and a driver oriented cockpit with many options to add personal touches. One of these is the ‘Black Accent Package’, which includes aesthetic design features such as high gloss black bars on the car’s kidney grille and two-tone Nappa leather upholstery.

The second generation Audi A5 convertible was unveiled in 2016. The 2017 A5 Sport Cabriolet has been designed to offer open-top driving with a sleek design and sporty performance. It does so by employing Audi’s innovative Quattro all wheel drive system, which sends power to the wheels with the maximum traction. This is further enhanced by an optional Audi drive select system with four distinct driving modes to choose from. Mounted in the front of the A5 is a 220 hp TFSI engine paired with a quick shifting eight-speed Tiptronic transmission.

The A5’s soft top folds down in just 17 seconds and deploys while driving at up to 31 mph. An optional advanced navigation system enables apps such as Google Earth with 3D satellite imagery, and a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to eight devices. Occupants can also access local traffic info, weather updates, flight information and news on the go. The car retails in the US at a starting price tag of $48,600.

8)Jaguar F-Type

2017-Jaguar-F type

The F-Type Convertible retains all the best features of its coupe cousin, including the 340 hp supercharged V6, the 8-speed QuickShift ZF transmission with sport mode, and the sport exhaust. It also boasts a sophisticated sports suspension and a performance braking system with 6-piston front and 4-piston rear brake calipers.

The F-Type’s adaptive dynamics make use of sophisticated software in the suspension, which communicates with engine control systems and the transmission to select the best damping strategy. It constantly analyzes the driver’s style and modifies the car’s response for maximum performance. The car’s electrically assisted steering is very precise. An active differential continuously monitors road conditions to optimize the balance between traction and handling. Exclusive 20-inch forged alloy wheels add to this Jaguar’s exceptional looks.

A crisp color 8-inch touch-screen display with GPS and multimedia audio is at the center of the F-Type’s console. The car’s configurable dynamics system is also managed from this screen. US retail prices begin at $65,400.

Here again, BMW employed foresight and allowed for the 2-Series convertible’s dynamic traction control to be switched off. Now drivers can actually push the car’s performance to its limits. New rear damper technology can adapt to the driving style. For best results one can get an M Sport suspension as part of the car’s optional Track Handling Packages.

An add-on BMW navigation system comes with an 8.8-inch display. This system automatically updates maps to ensure accuracy. Other optional additions are a Wi-Fi Hotspot and wireless phone charging.

The AMG SL65 is one of the few cars out there with a truly retractable power hardtop. AMG is the performance racing division of Mercedes-Benz. Every car adorned with the AMG badge is a performer and the SL65 is no exception.

Although not visually very different from its other SL cousins, this car has it where it counts. Under the hood is a handcrafted AMG 6.0 litre V12 twin turbo engine with a variable pressure fuel pump. The twin turbochargers operate at up to 22 psi boost, giving the SL65 738 lb-ft of peak torque and 621 hp of peak power. The car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.

The AMG performance suspension with 2-stage adjustment is track-tuned for maximum handling, although it can be set to comfort mode. Combined with this is the AMG 7-speed automatic transmission for the fastest gear shifts. This too can be set to manual and controlled with the steering-wheel mounted paddles.

The 4-Series convertible has evolved from over 30 years of BMW’s rich experience in open-top design innovations. The car’s fully lined hardtop gives it a coupe-like performance and feel. Connectivity features allow access to real time traffic information, mobile office functionality and remote concierge services.

The 4-Series convertible features a longer wheelbase, wider track and lower ride height. Its suspension lowers its center of gravity, making it even sportier. The car is also practical. It packs 13 cubic feet of trunk space with unhindered access even with the top down.

The car’s lightweight construction also adds to its performance. BMW has used ultra high strength multiphase steels in the 4-Series Convertible’s chassis and frame to give it higher tortional rigidity while making it lighter.

It continuously monitors up to 70 parameters related to driving behavior, and automatically alerts the driver with visible and audible warnings when needed. Interior comforts are enhanced by features such as 14-way power adjustable front seats with memory. Available as an option are multi contour seats with triple lumbar supports, adjustable side bolsters and shoulder supports.

3)Chevrolet Corvette

Chevrolet Corvette

The first Corvette was produced in 1953. It was a convertible, named after a quick and maneuverable type of ship from colonial times. The Corvette Z06 was designed to be a world-class supercar meant for the race track. Its supercharged 6.2 litre aluminum V8 engine delivers 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque for a certifiable supercar performance.

The road legal Corvette Z06 inherits several elements of the racing Corvette. These include its dry sump oil system, composite panels, adjustable spoiler, titanium intake valves and more. The Z06 is available with three levels of aerodynamic upgrades to add downforce and enhance performance.

The car is being offered with automatic or manual transmission. Its fully electronic drop-top can be lowered remotely and also functions while driving at up to 30 mph. On the inside, competition sport seats with side bolsters keep the driver firmly in place while taking corners.

The 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is Porsche’s ultimate luxury convertible. The car runs on a 3,800 cc, flat six, rear engine producing 580 hp of peak output. Active all-wheel drive helps deliver exceptional road grip and handling.

Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) is basically a highly advanced double clutch racing transmission, which shifts gears in milliseconds without interrupting the flow of power. PDK has been designed with seven sports-ratio gears. While the car reaches its top speed in sixth gear, the seventh gear is only there to reduce fuel consumption by not having to travel in very high revs for a long time. The best part of the drivetrain is a mode selector, which can be set to ‘normal’, ‘sport’ or ‘sport plus’.

The GT sports steering wheel in the 911 Turbo S Cabriolet features electric height and reach adjustment. Ergonomically located F1-style gear shift paddles are cleverly hidden behind the steering spokes.

1)Porsche Boxster

Porsche Boxster 2017

Boxster is a combination of ‘boxer’, which is one of Porsche’s four-cylinder, turbocharged engine types, and ‘roadster’, which is the car’s design type. The new 718 Boxster models are the newest in a range manufactured since 1996. For 2017, these have been built with a striking new design on the outside and several technological improvements on the inside.

The Boxster is Porsche’s quintessential mid-engine performance sports car with two luggage compartments. Shortening the transmission has reduced the Boxster’s weight, and power goes directly to the rear axle. Optimal weight distribution gives this car the character of a pure-bred roadster.

The exterior styling of the car makes it wide and low. Large wheel arches and a clear emphasis on the mid-mounted engine give the Boxster its unique profile. The car’s fully automatic fabric top can open and close at the push of a button in just nine seconds, and operates while driving at up to 31 mph.
