The 2017 A6 is Audi’s fourth gen executive car, which is also being offered in sedan and wagon variants with slightly different nomenclatures. The 2017 A6 is part of Audi’s C7 series and shares a common VW platform with a few other performance cars.

For the 2017 model year the A6 has been given a larger wheelbase and LED lights. The TFSI quattro model of the American version of the A6 is powered by 3.0 litre supercharged V6 engine churning out 306 hp and 325 lb·ft of peak torque. It’s the same engine that powered the third gen A6 and has been tuned for better output.

An optional seven speed dual clutch transmission and air suspension are two features exclusive to The European version of the A6 3.0 TFSI. Audi has experimented with the A6 and offered multiple variants. An electric hybrid has been on offer since 2012. Another model, the A6 allroad Quattro, has many unique features including an offroad appearance, larger diameter tires and a reinforced suspension. An adjustable air suspension system can increase ride height for off-road conditions, and a low-range mode manual transmission improves responsiveness.

The 2017 Audi A7 is an F segment luxury car which starts at US $ 68,800. It now has something called a ‘sportback’, and a 3.0 litre, six cylinder engine with 24 valve DOHC and variable valve timing. This little powerhouse produces 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. Using the eight speed automatic Audi gearbox, the A7 goes from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and achieves an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph.

Audi’s proprietary TFSI engine technology provides superlative performance while achieving fuel efficiency and low emissions. The same engine in the A7 Competition produces still more power. ‘Quattro’ is Audi speak for all wheel drive and comes as standard on the A7.

Other features of this four door hatchback include multiple airbags, keyless entry, a multifunction steering wheel, full LED headlights and a 14 speaker Bose surround sound system with noise compensation and adaptive rear spoiler.

Cadillac’s third generation executive car was first launched in 2013 and is currently available in sedan and coupe variants.

There are two engine options. A 2.0 litre turbo 4 cylinder engine with auto start/stop technology develops 268 max hp and would interest those who consider fuel economy important. For Cadillac’s more power-hungry patrons there is the 3.6 litre V6 that can pump out 335 hp.

Both engines are coupled with an 8 speed automatic transmission. Magnesium paddle shifters on the wheel come with driver selectable modes including ‘Tour’, ‘Sport’, ‘Snow/Ice’ and ‘Track’.

The car has an almost even 50/50 weight distribution on both axles, which enhances handling. Cadillac’s Magnetic Ride Control automatically senses road quality and weather conditions to adjust the suspension and ride height. AWD is also available.

Cadillac offers a highly customizable cabin in the CTS, with a choice of materials, colors and styles. The car’s 12.3 inch lcd display can also be personalized. Remote start feature allows the engine to be started from 100 yards away. The car senses outside temperatures and activates the climate control automatically.

The G80 became Hyundai’s luxury four-door sedan when they took over from Genesis motors. Since 2008 the car has been manufactured by the Korean automotive giant as the Hyundai Genesis. The 2017 G80 is available in the US with a starting price tag of $41,400. The range encompasses various models including AWD and RWD variants, as well as multiple engine options.

The base model G80 comes with a 3.8 litre GDI DOHC 24 valve V6 gasoline direct injection engine, which produces 311 hp of max power. The top end G80 packs the sizable 5.0 litre GDI V8 with an output of 420 hp. An 8 speed auto transmission with ‘eco’, ‘normal’, ‘sport’ and ‘snow’ modes, and steering-mounted manual paddle shifters is standard.

RWD comes as standard while AWD can be had for a bit extra on the 3.8L GDI. Plush interiors, a seven inch color lcd multi information display, an overhead console and power sunroof are all part of the package.

AMG is the performance racing division of Mercedes-Benz, which independently engineers, manufactures and customizes Mercedes Benz cars to give them aggressive looks, more power and better handling. They also make extensive use of carbon fiber to noticeably lighten regular Mercedes cars.

The US version of the AMG E43 starts at $ 72,400. It has an AMG enhanced 3.0 litre V6 biturbo capable of producing 396 hp @ 6,100 rpm. The car runs on an AMG enhanced 9 speed automatic transmission and the proprietary 4MATIC all wheel drive system. This formidable package makes the E43 lunge from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 sec.

AMG also gave the car a sport tuned adaptive air suspension and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) to handle any road conditions and ease crosswind driving. Adaptive braking technology sets the brake pads closer to the discs when the driver lifts off the accelerator quickly, shortening the response time in case brakes are applied.

5) Mercedes-Benz E-class

Currently in its fifth generation, the Mercedes-Benz E-class fills the void between the larger S-class and the smaller C-class. Available in the US starting from $52,150, the E300 Sedan comes with a 2.0 litre inline 4 turbocharged gasoline engine with a peak output of 241 hp. The standard Mercedez-Benz 9 speed automatic transmission has been coupled with a rear wheel drive.

Manufacturers claim the car can get 22 miles to the gallon in the city. Always eager to put racing technology in their passenger road cars, Mercedes-Benz gave the E300 their Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and a 4 wheel electronic traction control system.

The E300 is the base variant of the 2017 E-class while the top variant is the AMG E43. Mercedes-Benz has updated their engine design with a shift from V6 diesels to inline 6 diesel engines, and a whole new generation of four cylinder petrol engines.

Models equipped with motion sensors, radars and cameras are partially capable of autonomous driving at highway speeds. The E300 remains highly customizable with a choice of seats, wheels, interior trim, colors, materials and much else.

4) Acura RLX

The RLX is produced by the Acura division of Honda. The base model of the American 2017 RLX is being offered for $54,450.

The engine is a 3.5 litre aluminum alloy, direct injection 24 valve, SOHC V6 built with Honda’s proprietary i-VTEC technology. It produces 310 hp @ 6500 rpm. In the car’s sport hybrid model the same engine partners with three electric motors and these produce a combined peak output of 377 hp.

Technical features include the RSX’s drive by wire throttle control, a 6 speed automatic transmission with sequential paddle shifters, four-wheel independent double wishbone suspension, ABS and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD).

Comfort and safety features consist of a power moonroof with tilt feature, adaptive cruise control, side impact beams, multiple airbags, noise reducing wheels and LED headlights. The advanced package additionally has LED foglights and there are a number of ways in which Acura lets buyers customize their RLXs.

The 6-series Gran Coupe is BMW’s first ever foray into the four-door, five seat coupe category. It looks great on the inside and out. The 640i is the entry level 6 series car and starts in the US from $79,800.

BMW have given the standard 640i a 3.0 litre BMW turbo inline 6 cylinder engine with a twin scroll turbocharger, variable valve control and direct injection. It produces 315 hp at 5800 rpm and 330 lb-ft of torque at 1400 rpm. Technologies such as brake energy regeneration and auto engine start-stop improve fuel efficiency.

The 650i xDrive Gran Coupe represents the upper end of the series. This variant packs a 4.4 litre BMW TwinPower Turbo V-8 engine with a peak output of 445 hp. This handsome coupe goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds.

All 6-series cars have 8 speed sport automatic transmission and dynamic damper control suspension. Active cruise control uses radars to maintain safe distance from the vehicles in front. In case of collision danger the car provides a visual alert and the brakes engage automatically.

2) Infiniti Q70

Infiniti is the luxury segment of well-known Japanese auto maker Nissan. Formerly known as the Infiniti M, the Q70 is their opulent executive car for 2017, which starts in the US from $50,100.

The car is available in five models including RWD, AWD and hybrid options. The basic Q70 comes with a 330 hp 3.7 litre V6, 7 speed automatic transmission and rear wheel drive. Double wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension is standard, as are 10-way power heated front seats, a 7 inch color info display and four wheel ABS.

The other end of the range is represented by the Q70 5.6 AWD which, as the name suggests, packs a 5.6 litre V8 and all wheel drive. This engine variant develops 420 hp and still gets a city drive economy of 16 mpg.

The cars are equipped with a predictive forward collision warning system which detects the distance and relative speed of TWO cars in front to provide necessary alerts. The car’s backup collision intervention detects obstacles while reversing and can automatically engage the brakes when needed.

The 2017 XF is Jaguar’s entry into the mid-full-size segment, and starts from $48,250 in the US. The car is available in five variants with an AWD option available with all.

The XF is fitted with a 180 hp 4-cylinder diesel engine and an all-surface progress control system. The XF Sport is quite a different beast with a 3.0 litre supercharged V6 engine that can produce 340 hp and accelerate the car from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds in rear wheel drive mode.

All models of the XF are also available with optional AWD and the supercharged 3.0 litre V6. One notable extra with the XF S is Jaguar’s adaptive dynamics system. This gizmo alters the car’s suspension, transmission and engine settings based on the driving conditions. The car’s lightweight aluminum construction, stiff body, front double wishbone and rear integral link suspension further add to the handling and ride quality.

The XF sport features 14×14 way sports seats and an advanced customizable infotainment system.
